This bread takes time. The yeast smell fills the kitchen.  The hand kneading requires sweat equity.  The slow rise needs two days. And oh! This bread is worth it: crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside.  Add a few raisins for sweetness during the fall Jewish holidays. Shape into a loaf, a country round or a spiral, as in the picture, this bread is fabulous for any meal.  We had so many requests for this recipe after it was seen on our Facebook page, we wanted to share it with you here.  Enjoy and let us know how your bread turned out!

Because of the Jewish holidays, we are sending this blog out early. Happy New Year to all our Jewish readers.
