We all know the traditional ways of using bread, as in sandwiches. Leftover can be transformed into French Toast and of course croutons or breadcrumbs.

Here are some really clever ways to use bread slices.
Outside the Bread Box:
What to do with Leftover Bread
Pie Crusts and Tart Shells
Most commonly people will use store bought pie shells or make their own. But why not try it with a slice of bread?
Leftover bread
It’s very easy. All you do is cut the crusts off if desired, flatten or roll out any slice of bread to about 1/8” thick. Spray pan or tin before adding bread.
Pie Crust
Cut 4-5 slices of bread or as needed. Sprinkle with water until malleable. Press into pie plate and brush with beaten egg. Shape top of crust to make even or scalloped. Prebake for 8 minutes. Fill with sliced fruit or favorite filling and bake according to recipe.
Tart Shells
Allow 1 slice of bread per muffin tin. Push rolled bread into muffin tins, crimping or cutting to create an attractive top. Bake at 350 for 5-8 minutes. Fill with favorite filling and bake according to recipe.
Fillings for savory mini-tarts
Cut each of bread into fourths and follow directions above. Bake at 350 until golden brown, 5-8 minutes. Add your favorite filling or try pimento cheese, olive tapenade with humus, caprese, or a scoop of chicken, fish or egg salad. For a favorite snack for kids try a pizza bite—add sauce and cheese and reheat until cheese is melted.
