Boston Cream Pie Bites
To tell you the truth, I wasn’t planning on this blog post. (I’ll post next week, the one I had planned.) I had a little extra time Friday and so created this dessert from yellow cake I had baked for a trifle recipe.
Everyone at my house loves Boston Cream Pie. I decided to cut the yellow cake into small pieces and use the traditional custard and chocolate glaze. I wanted it non-dairy and so experimented with a custard recipe, adding a bit of cream of coconut, which adds a very lovely rich flavor.
After drizzling the chocolate over the cake, I also drizzled a bit of the custard as it was so good! Good thing I took the pictures right away, because there wasn’t a crumb left!

Sharon Hart-Green's novel, Come Back for Me, reveals Holocaust trauma across the generations, yet her characters find freedom and love. The author told me, “I think that Israel plays a redemptive role in the novel...It is the place in the novel where the key characters find a community where they can live without fear and self-denial- which also frees them to find love.”
