Caramelized Onions 101

Caramelized onions are very easy to make. The secret is to cook them low and slow. This is the way water from the onions cook out and the natural sugars have a chance to caramelize. That's where the magic happens!! Not a 5 minute recipe, but oh, so worth it!

Uses are endless for a deeper and richer flavor. Try caramelized onions on burgers (meat or veggie) or deli sandwiches, in chutneys, green or grain salads, on hor d'oevres, in frittatas and omelettes, pasta, pizza, on baked potatoes, quiche or quesadillas, soups or stews. And that's just a start!

Caramelized onions can be refrigerated for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 month.
