Horace Button's
Proper Tableside Caesar Salad
The Petersons are our first husband and wife team! Eric’s The Dining Car, is our Foodie Lit review this month. And Teresa, a gourmet chef, has graciously agreed to be our guest blogger with her signature Caesar salad.
Foodie Lit
Thank you to guest blogger, talented and fearless chef, Teresa Peterson, for sharing her signature Caesar Salad and allowing her husband to name it after his main character, Horace Button.
The evening dinner schedule at the Peterson household is sacrosanct. At the stroke of eight, the couple meets at the kitchen counter over wine and starters.
On weekends or when entertaining, Teresa’s menu is apt to veer into something a little more decadent: a rack of lamb or a bone-in prime rib. And always her signature Caesar salad.
The romance of rails is written into just about every scene in The Dining Car. Who wouldn’t want to live, like main character Horace Buttons, in a private railcar fitted up with bedrooms, an observing balcony and a kitchen for gourmet meals? Horace Button, a self-absorbed gourmet alcoholic, turns out to be a likeable and intelligent fellow, even his strength surprises himself.
Eric Peterson develops an unusual plot, memorable and unconventional characters---with a satisfying ending in which the main characters find they are stronger than they imagined.
